Congratulations! “Klaus Erich-Pollmann Research Award 2015” as well as Faculty Award for “Best PhD Student 2015” Goes to Dr.-Ing. Philipp Berg
At yesterday's 23rd academic ceremony, Dr.-Ing. Philip Berg, researcher at the FVST’s Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics (ISUT), was simultaneously awarded the "Klaus Erich Pollmann Research Award 2015" and the prize for the faculty’s best dissertation.
Born in 1985 in Magdeburg, he studied mechanical engineering from 2005-2011 with a specialization in applied mechanics at the Otto-von-Guericke University, graduating "with distinction".
Since 2011 he has worked as a research associate at ISUT. During this time he began work on his doctoral thesis on "CFD-based hemodynamic study of patient-specific intracranial aneurysms", which he finished with the overall grade "summa cum laude". He now works as a post-doc at the research campus STIMULATE.
The Klaus Erich Pollmann Research Award was first presented in 2013.
It is aimed at young scientists and/or researchers at OVGU after the completion of their doctorates, whose work was evaluated summa cum laude. Through further scientific research, the candidates are supposed to cooperate with other scientists at domestic or foreign universities and through possible joint research projects promote the international reputation of the University of Magdeburg.
